Bringing innovation to the metals industry
We were founded in 1999, when president Barrett E. Price took his 20 years of metalworking experience and opened Bear Metal Works right here in Buffalo, NY. That first year, we did exactly one job, for $500. But as people learned what we had to offer – including newer equipment, faster lead times and lower costs – Bear Metal Works quickly began to grow.
Today, we offer custom sheet metal fabrication services out of a 15,500-square-foot former railroad motor assembly warehouse on Milton Street in Buffalo. Here are some of the features that set us apart:
We’re environmentally friendly
At Bear Metal Works, we recycle as much as possible, including paper, plastic and – of course – metal. We use environmentally friendly lubricants whenever possible. We recently changed all of the lighting fixtures in our shop to use high-output, energy-efficient T-5 fluorescent bulbs, saving countless kilowatts while providing a brighter, safer work environment. Plus, by switching to a modern technique known as near-dry sawing, we’ve improved the quality of our cuts, reduced the potential for rust and eliminated costly cleanup and handling (which helps our customers save money), all with a process that's more environmentally friendly.
We are constantly updating and improving our processes
Bear Metal Works was recognized as one of the most innovative companies in Western New York through the greater Buffalo Niagara Partnership and the Innovate Buffalo Niagara program. We were also the first job shop in New York State to install a welding robot for production – just like you see in the car commercials.
We love polar bears
If you’ve read any of our newsletters – or just glanced at our logo – you’ll know that we’re big fans of polar bears (maybe because our company is owned by a guy named Barrett). We encourage people to help us save these magnificent creatures from extinction. How? By reducing your personal energy use and carbon footprint, and by urging local, state and federal officials to pass legislation that reduces greenhouse gas emissions. These steps can help slow global warming, which melts the polar ice cap and destroys the polar bear’s natural habitat. You can learn more about polar bears, and see them for yourself, at the Buffalo Zoo.
We work in a variety of shapes including tubing, pipe, angles and WF beams.
From grinding and polishing to cutting and deburring, we offer dozens of in-house metalworking services.
